Our Board

Crystal has lived in Nassau County almost twenty years but is still in awe of all the beauty our area offers. Crystal has a love for nature and wildlife. She has recently become interested in photography. She and her husband, Brian, can often be found at Spoonbill Pond trying to catch the perfect image of our local birds.

She works as a financial advisor for Edward Jones. However, her weekends are full of adventuring and exploring local trails, beaches, and waterways. She loves sharing with clients who are new to the area the great places to adventure nearby. It seems there is always a new place to discover. As a board member, she hopes to spread awareness of the natural beauty of the islands and surrounding areas.

Margaret is a retired CPA and was a longtime volunteer for Rhode Island National Wildlife Refuges before retirement and a subsequent move to Amelia Island. Her wildlife interests are primarily in wildflowers and birds and she enjoys photographing both. Beach walking and geology are among some of Margaret's hobbies.

Margaret believes The Talbot Islands State Parks include the most beautiful marshes and beaches in this area and preservation of these resources is very important to her.

Sherri is a resident of Amelia Island recently retired from the printing industry. She is a Florida Master Naturalist and permitted volunteer with the Amelia Island Sea Turtle Watch. Sherri and her husband Robby are always excited to share the beauty of the islands with both locals and the many visitors who they meet. As a Florida native who enjoys the Real Florida, she hopes to use her love of our state parks to benefit the Talbot Island family of parks through her involvement with its CSO.

Phyllis grew up in central NC and have an AA degree from Brevard College (back when it was a Jr. College), and a BS degree from NC State University in Soil Conservation. She worked for the US Djept of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service for almost 20 years mapping soils in NC, SC, VA and MT. She was also part of a team which mapped and sampled soils in the Greak Smoky Mountains National Park. In addition, she was a team member sampling soils in the GSMNP as part of a national Acid Deposition Study. Her career was spent mapping and interpreting soils based on landscape position and numerous other features.

Phyllis moved to FL for her husband's employment and volunteered for years with the local school system, and then became a substitute teacher. She has been a volunteer at Talbot Islands State Parks for several years, and also volunteers in numerous capacities through her local church. She has a daughter who will graduate from Fernandina Beach High School this spring. She also has an elderly dog who loves to spend time walking the beach. Hobbies include reading, quilting, travel - and being out in nature!

Elise earned a PhD in biology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and went on to work as a wildlife biologist in Utah, South Carolina and Florida, after which she had a second career as a natural perfumer. She has combined her life's work(s) in writing about the natural history of fragrance in between volunteering for sea turtle patrol and counting wintering shorebirds on our beautiful park beaches. She is generally seen with a camera and a pocket full of seashells. Elise hopes to lend her voice in support of birds, turtles and other animals and plants of our treasured Talbot Islands State Parks, knowing how fragile our barrier islands can be and the value of protected habitat for all.
